Crystal Orr

Crystal OrrCrystal Orr, Cromwell/Okemah, is the Assistant to Campus Directors at WWTC. She began her career after completing the Data Processing program at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee in 1982. Crystal served in the U.S. Air Force in England and California as a Telecommunications Operations Specialist from 1982 to 1986. After her military service, she returned to the CareerTech system to complete the Business Office Technology career major.

Hired by WWTC in May of 1996, her main job responsibilities are to assist in maintaining optimum efficiency of the Student Services department and to assist four campus directors and the superintendent as needed. She provides extensive customer service, records monies and issues receipts, maintains and edits the student accounting system database and serves as the campus registrar. She also assists in coordinating the WWTC’s National Technical Honor Society activities, Student of the Month activities, College Career Day, Job Fair, Foundation activities/annual scholarship golf tournament and the Seminar Center scheduling and setup. In addition, she produces all competencies, completion awards, and other school related certificates and submits meeting registrations and makes travel arrangements for staff. Other duties require her to maintain records, prepare reports, and mailings as required by the state and district.

"Career and Technology Education has helped me achieve many goals which I have set. As a high school student, CTE gave me the skills and training I needed to be accepted into the military field of my choosing. As an adult, it has given me thorough and up-to-date training and a firm foundation which has enabled me to have a rewarding career at Wes Watkins Technology Center,” said Orr.

Not only does CareerTech provide career majors and training programs which help high school students and adults gain the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workplace for the first time or re-enter the work force with new, marketable skills, but technology centers also provide continuing education to help current employees stay abreast of new and advancing technology.

Crystal Orr has worked for WWTC for the past 15 years. She has continued to increase her knowledge and skills by attending CareerTech workshops like Customer Service Training, Proofreading for Professionals, and other CareerTech professional development training sessions and seminars.
